…in the World Wide Web. Like Frank Sinatra sang in his “Coffee-Song” there are a zilion tons of coffee in Brasil. However,  Brasil is not the only coffee-hot-spot! I will take you on a coffee-orientated journey throughout the world and show you, where you can buy the best beans with the finest flavour. A coffeinian world-trip, so to say.

We begin, where you would normally not suspect coffee to be found: In Australia! Those, who have a decent sense for beauty, sophisticated design and humour in furnishing, should quickly get to know Taschide.  The two designers have their forge of ideas in German Offenbach. On the tracks of Ikea’s genius nomenclature, they baptize their  products also with curious names like Karl-Heinz or Christa.

With their creations, Sandra Tan und Johannes Schiebe tell stories about “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall”, princesses, “Sleeping Beauty”, “The wishing table”  and sea urchins. They narrate tales of already forgotten imagination. They put colourful socks on tables, produce rocks  and wish you a goodnight holding a white candle.

Don’t you immediately feel demoted to the magical world of your childhood, in which people could still be devided into good and bad and every princess somehow found her prince rescuing her from her tower with a white horse? Well, then have a closer look on the fabulous world of Taschide and start to dream of design that still come straight from the heart.

The new clou are those sweet cushions, which are stuffed with special grain filling (“That’s the way I like it. uhu uhu”!) and covered in hand-knitted wool. Stylish and comfortable! Old-fashioned yet at the pulse of time. With one word: On the edge! But still: exactly this status allows them to be a must-have for everyone cultivated in cuddling. Now you could easily go on your own personal trip around the world. And it is really easy: Just enter your favourite bar around the corner, where they recently got  Earth Lamps by Fluid Forms installed.  The old walls were spiced up with these 3D-printed lamps out of Polyamide. Now you can call your fav bar TRENDY! Because you can not only see Graz from bird perspective, but also New York, Sydney, Tokyo and Paris gloom from the walls.

Only a dream? No! The creative guys, who work at Fluid Forms made it possible: You can change every place on earth to be a gleaming polyamide lamp framed in brushed aluminium. The ways of designing are seemingly endless. On their do-it-yourself-homepage one chooses his/her favourite place on mother earth and the journey begins. Later, the prominent relief is 3D printed in polyamide, mounted on a brushed aluminium frame and equipped with an energy saving ring bulb. Now something very special is born: A unique lamp, which was designed by YOU!

Of course, such way-out lamps do not only look good on the walls of your favourite bar, also in your own private living room they make a reeeally good figure.  They will be an eye-catcher and point of fascination at the same time, because not many people have seen such an extraordinary construction before.  (Sad, isn’t it? That’s new: Get your precious leather bags custom designed! A groundbreaking idea by German “Tanner + Tailor“. (Nomen est omen…) And the very best thing about it: The customers have the choice whether they want their new bag, laptop-bag or wallet rather in a classic or colourful and freaky design. However, still, leather has its price, hence don’t count on getting out of the deal under 100 Euros.

Nouveau chic: Finest leather in German top quality, and all that according to individual custom wishes and needs. Say bye bye to middlemen and distances, now that there’s online communication the dialogue between customer and provider gets more and more important. (Almost like in the old times when you went to your tailor and told him what bag you would like to have…). At Tanner + Tailer customer’s e-mails go straight through, directly in the heart of production. Hear ye! Well, well! Not half bad!

The principle does not vary very much from the systems of other mass customization companies. The customer chooses a type of bag, clicks on every components. Once she has chosen all types of leather she wants and the way she prefers the seam and the lining: voilá…the bag is finished. In almost no time the bag of her dreams will wait for her at her doorstep. I, for once, am a fan of fancy, individual bags as a current attendent. I can buy a perfectly normal bag pretty easy in a shop around the corner. But a customized bag of the brand “Katze” (yeah, you heard right…you can even add some golden or silver letters to your bag in order to BRAND it the way you prefer!)

Bye bye compromises! At least as far as the picking of the right (wedding-, engagement-) rings are concerned. Paragon Lake with its virtual display case has something in store for every budget, every taste and every occasion. They clearly want to disburden world’s male population of their hardest decision. „Every man in possession of a good fortune“ (thank you, Jane Austen) should now not only be in want of a wife but also be able to buy the proper ring for his beloved. Today, Paragon Lake’s customers consist of both, jewelers and private, individual customers. Only three years ago, in 2006, the founding fathers of Paragon Lake, Matt Lauzon and Jason Ruben were still students, when they explored personalization and other new ways that people shop and realized there was an opportunity to drastically improve the way fine jewelry is bought and sold. Patchwork blankets are great! Cosy, easily to produce and they have still kept themselves a certain chic. Patchwork walls, though, are better by far! They are innovative, easy to design and (*drum roll*) they even gleam in the dark!

White walls already belong to history, now interior architecture dictates ornaments, colours and forms. They are (again-let’s only think about the 60s and 70s…) a stable element of stylish living- and bedrooms. For those who don’t want to settle on one pattern and who search for a possibility to design their walls individually, the designer Shane Crozier created the right thing.

In the name of innovation, he invented Patchwork anew: Modular light tiles, a fusion between „family patchwork quilt and home-made stained glass windows“, who are made of small framed 150x 150 mm transparent OLED emitter. One can paint on them with standard water based acrylics and once they are finished hang them on one’s walls. Then, the only thing to do is to wait till it gets dark. When the owls howl and the croakers croak it’s time for the decoration-elements to show their true colours. They start to gleam!

For the rare occasion that the way you designed your tiles doesn’t appeal to you anymore, you can easily wash the colour off and paint them again. So you can easily add new pizazz to your home.

The Earth Table Stripe by Fluid Forms is on the best track to be such a classic as the fairy tale by the brothers Grimm. As important as the individual way to tell a famous story like „the wishing table“ is the individual designing of this fancy piece of furniture. And it is so incredibly easy. Everyone, who is in the possession of a computer and a computer-mouse can create an unique piece of furniture almost all by himself. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy! But not only that you can change the very look of the table, also the size of it can be adjusted to your own personal needs. Everything goes: Quadratic, longish, quadratic, longish or why not try out quadratic?

The steps to design your own Earth Table are easy to describe: It all bases upon Google Maps. At first you have to search for a place on earth you consider worthy to be the place where you will be eating for the next 10 years (at least!) and then Fluid Forms will put this model into a real table. Only with the help of a cnc-miller. High quality laminated wooden blocks will bestow the right material to look at, 8 mm thick glass will be the right sphere to eat on while looking at the Yellow Stone National Park, the Whitsunday Islands or the heart of London. But before you can use your table the surface has to besanded, oiled and polished by hand by skilled Austrian craftsmen. Fluid Forms only wants the best for you, huh?

Dine in the middle of the Brasilian jungle, on the Sout African table mountain, in the midst of the Great Barrier Reef (greeting Nemo while eating fish fingers….!?), on the  Rocky Mountains or in London, Paris, New York or Moscow. With the Earth Table Stripe one has always the feeling to be on two places at a time. Here and at the place of your choice. Isn’t home where the heart is? Allow yourself a portion of health every morning at seven. That can easily be done with mymuesli. Their customized cereals are not only delicious, they furious mixes are also organic. With funky colours and clear design the page invites all sorts of possible customers to test their service. And I had to learn it the hard way: Once you test it, you will order it again and again and again.

An ideal present. A sweet gewgaw. An individual attention. The donee will appreciate the time spent with the choice of base, ingredients, extras and the own, individual, muesli baptism.

When I chose cereals at mymuesli, chocolate comes first. The more chocolate, the better. Trust me: There is loaaads of chocolate out there in the muesli universe. However, also the people who watch their figure and/or like to start their day healthy get their money’s worth: five grains with apple bits, cranberries, figs and pineapples will do it!
