Focused Solar Sinterer – star dust and sunlight

I get a goose bumps again and again by all the upcoming possibilities and ideas possible through additive production methods. Take for example, a perhaps far fetched but theoretically sound Focused Solar Sinterer, proposed in 1996 at the Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium.

As European settlers brought their hammers, axes, saws, and barrels of nails to build and infrastructure in America, these publishers proclaimed to equip future space settlers with sunlight powered 3D-Printer using celestial rocks as building material.
